Paw care guide

How to Clean Muddy Dog Paws

The best doorway routine is simple enough to repeat while your dog is still calm. Prepare clean water and a dry towel before the walk when rain or mud is likely.

Inspect every paw first

Look between toes and around pads for cuts, irritation, grit, ice or lodged debris. Do not continue if handling causes pain; get professional advice when an injury is possible.

Rinse, then dry

Keep movements gentle and avoid water that is uncomfortably hot or cold.

  1. Remove loose mud without aggressive rubbing.
  2. Rinse one paw at a time, without forcing it into a container.
  3. Pat the paw and lower leg dry, including between toes where appropriate.

Reset the station

Empty and clean reusable tools, launder the towel as directed and let everything dry before storing. A clean setup helps the next walk end calmly.
