Inspect every paw first
Look between toes and around pads for cuts, irritation, grit, ice or lodged debris. Do not continue if handling causes pain; get professional advice when an injury is possible.
Rinse, then dry
Keep movements gentle and avoid water that is uncomfortably hot or cold.
- Remove loose mud without aggressive rubbing.
- Rinse one paw at a time, without forcing it into a container.
- Pat the paw and lower leg dry, including between toes where appropriate.
Reset the station
Empty and clean reusable tools, launder the towel as directed and let everything dry before storing. A clean setup helps the next walk end calmly.
