Entryway guide

How to Stop Muddy Paw Prints Indoors

Muddy prints are easiest to manage before they cross the room. A small entryway plan can reduce the distance between the door, paw check and drying area.

Create a landing zone

Choose a stable, uncluttered place near the usual entrance. Keep a washable mat, clean water, a pet towel and waste container within reach but away from curious pets.

Use the same return-home sequence

Consistency helps both person and pet know what happens next.

  1. Pause on the mat and secure the door.
  2. Inspect and clean paws one at a time.
  3. Dry paws and lower legs before releasing your dog indoors.

Plan for difficult weather

Use the least muddy practical route, keep a spare towel ready and clean the landing zone before tracked dirt dries. Never trade a dog’s exercise or safety for a perfectly clean floor.
